- Liberal fluid intake - 10 to 12 glasses per day (3 liters/day).

Regular check up of blood pressure at six monthly interval if you are above 53 years. If high blood pressure is present control it with salt restriction and medicine as needed. Once a blood pressure is always a blood pressure.
Contact your doctor if you have puffiness of face (more in morning), burning while passing urine, red or dark color urine, passing less urine inspite of adequate fluid intake, getting up two or more times at night to pass urine or has foamy urine (Protein present in urine). These may be early signs of kidney trouble and may need full evaluation.
Get full evaluation with treatment if you have stone in the kidney.
Get full evaluation if you have high blood pressure at young age. This may be due to kidney trouble.
If a person has chronic kidney failure due to polycystic kidneys and glomerulonephritis, his/her heirs must get the C.B.C. / kidney panel reports once in a year apart from urine routine.
Persons suffering from chronic constipation should see that there is no retention of urine in bladder.
Persons suffering from enlarge prostate gland should go for early treatment (GENTS).
Persons suffering from cystitis should go for early treatment (LADIES).
Too much of spicy food and extra salt intake (such as pickles/ papads/ farsans) should be avoided.
