Mr. Bhaichand Mehta
( 1909 - 1990 )

During the early 20th century, the late Bhaichand Mehta (1910-1990) was a leading pioneer of the insurance business in India. He also broke new ground in strongly advocating ownership-based residential accomodation for the masses (then barely existent and almost unheard of), in the metropolitan city of Mumbai. Apart from being a leading personality, he possessed tremendous business acumen and a keen sense of social charity toward individuals and institutions as well. In his loving memory, one of his sons, Jyotindra Mehta, created this non-profit, charitable foundation, with the singular aim of continuing his father's pledge of social charity and helping the less fortunate.
In the late 1970s, Jyotindra suffered from chronic renal failure. After fourteen months of dialysis, he underwent a kidney transplant at Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital, in November 1979. This new lease of life in the form of a donated kidney was the selfless act of Jyotindra's younger brother, Vinod. Recently, Jyotindra successfully commenced his 22nd year of post-transplantation era. Since the inception of this foundation, Jyotindra has published three informative booklets in English on kidney-related diseases - Life With One Kidney, Life With Kidney Failure and Life With Transplant Kidney. These publications were made possible through the generosity of this foundation and received rich guidance and passionate advice from his dear friend and nephrologist, Dr. Bhupendra V. Gandhi, MD (one of India's prominent nephrologists and founder of the Dialysis Center at Breach Candy Hospital). These booklets are distributed free of charge, to renal/kidney patients and their relatives/loved ones. Ethnic edition of Life with Kidney Filure is also available in Hindi/Marathi/Gujarati languages. Both his sons, Tushar and Vatsal, alongwith his immediate family contribute to Jyotindra's charitable activities. Additionally, he continues to help numerous other charitable institutions in Mumbai and many cities across India.
We have published three books relating to life with kidney failure, based on the personal experiences of both, "Donor" And "Recepient". Since the Internet has become a very powerful and easy medium to reach individuals from all spheres of life, anytime, anywhere, we thought it appropriate to put our three publications online. These books contain articles on kidney failure by eminent Indian nephrologists specifically regarding dialysis, and pre/post-operative kidney transplant care. Through these books, we have tried to create an awareness of kidney failure for patients and their loved ones . Plus, the publications contain views of both, kidney donors as well as the recepient of the transplanted kidney (patients). You can read these Books by Clicking on the Links below . The names of the Books are : -
One Kidney Is Enough For A Human Body
All The Above Three Books Are Published By Mr. Jyotindra B Mehta.
